WE LOVE EMOJIS, we do.
But there’s one emoji that has gone too far.
The cry laughing emoji. (Or, as it’s officially known, “Face with Tears of Joy” emoji.)
Look at his stupid head.
Cry laughing emoji is the type of guy that almost certainly has a “gas” selfie with Marty Morrissey on his phone. (Additionally, he describes Marty Morrisey as “some man” whenever it comes up in conversation.)
He brings teabags away with him on holidays “in case they don’t have any”.
And, we’re sorry to say, he definitely goes for cheeky pints and cheeky Nandos because, sure, it’d be rude not to.
In short, cry laughing emoji is basic as hell.
And he must be stopped.
Let’s be honest: people don’t know when or how to use cry laughing emoji
There are certain circumstances where we can imagine a cry laughing emoji might be warranted. But let’s be honest about it: most people haven’t a clue about when is appropriate to use it and throw it around willy-nilly.
Missed the bus? Cry laughing emoji. Just seeing a text now? Cry laughing emoji. A funny tweet? 17 cry laughing emojis.
And, like, nothing is really this funny.
When was the last time you squirted two giant salty tears out of your eyes because you were laughing so hard?
This is a rare occurrence and should be treated as such.
There are other emojis ways to express amusement that don’t make it look like you’re going hysterical.
What’s wrong with this guy?
Or even a simple “LOL”? Is “LOL” dead?
Also, we hate to break it to you, but it has entered Irish political discourse.
Meaning that it is officially past it.
In short, it’s time we made it stop.

Next time you feel tempted to share a cry laughing emoji, think twice and ask yourself: is this really necessary? Am I crying laughing? Can I maybe cut four of these out and leave it at three cry laughing emojis?
